Your missionDorel Juvenile is looking for a Fashion Designer to join our team on a temporary basis to cover for maternity leave. This 4-6 month assignment is based at our Design and Development Center in Foxboro, MA.
Key responsibilitiesResponsible to deliver the fashion needs on a wide range of juvenile products by collaborating with the Dorel fashion team to execute production activities. Create trend boards, ideation sketching, understand the costing structure as well as assemble tech packs for hand-off to factories. Add design value to the hard goods components that interface with the soft goods execution. Provide Sales with presentation tools that communicate the vision & strategy of the fashion design. Complete accurate, clear and complete fashion specifications for each SKU being requested for retailers launch dates. Work with fashion graphic designers to develop new production ready artwork and prints (repeats a plus).
Your profileBachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent along with 3+ years experience designing soft goods in the fashion, apparel, accessories, toy, automotive, interior/furniture, baby gear or related industry. Understand and have ability to create hand and computer drawings. Must have a good sense of materials, color and textures required. Must be able to evaluate design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, materials and methods of engineering, application, budget, production costs, methods of production and client specifications. Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator. Proficiency in Photoshop preferred. Proficient working with Microsoft Office. Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal along with keen listening skills to ensure clear notes and feedback. Must collaborate effectively with others to ensure success across internal fashion team as well as cross-functional and international partners. Strong presentation skills required. Must be extremely organized with a strong attention to detail. Must be able tow work well with materials such as measuring, cutting and applications Must be proactive and self-motivated, working well under tight deadlines with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must have a positive attitude and be a strong team player in a collaborative environment.
